Further Details...

Who is BoatShed Cheese?

In the beginning, the founder Tamara Newing started to make cheese in the family's boatShed in 2011. She found comfort in cheesemaking after her youngest son tragically passed away. After a while, her small production of artisan cheeses soon outgrew the boat shed. Since then it has blossomed to a cheesery recognised Australia wide and internationally for its beautiful cheese. The business is now owned by a dairy farming family.

What are the cheeses*?

This pack includes four beautiful cheeses made by BoatShed we have selected to share with you! Two of them made with buffalo milk and the other two with goat's milk.

Black Pearl
Milk:   |  Vegetarian
Just like a true pearl - created by nature, Boatshed’s Black Pearl is made all by hand - including the way it is shaped! Exquisite in looks, taste and created with traditional French methods. This cheese really is so precious. If you are a fan of goat’s cheese, then you are in for a real treat!

__

Buffalo Blue
Milk:   |  Vegetarian

This blue cheese is a fascinating lactic set cheese, featuring a snow white interior, encased by a blue mould rind. It is made with buffalo milk which is quite rare and special, it makes the cheese creamier compared to if made with cow's milk.

__

Tempest
Milk:   |  Vegetarian
Are you more of a savoury person than sweet person? This cheese may look like a tasty donut but don’t be deterred - there is no sugar in sight! Boatshed have been creative - again! This doughnut-shaped buffalo’s milk cheese looks stunning on a cheeseboard and it tastes pretty damn good too.

__

Oasis
Milk:   |  Vegetarian
Oasis is one of Boatshed’s first ever cheeses. It’s easy to see why they keep making this - it is a little beauty! To look at, it is quite a striking looking cheese, with the contrast of the bright, green chives against the lush, white goat’s milk cheese. Oasis is hand-rolled and covered in chives, garlic, lemongrass and sesame seeds. Perfect on its own or on a piece of warm sourdough.

* Cheeses may change without notice if they become unavailable. In this case, we will substitute with another great cheese.

Blessed are the cheesemakers.

    Wonderful flavours, very smooth

Being allergic to cow products I’m very grateful for the sheep and goat & buffalo cheeses boatshed offer. Amazingly crafted, high quality, good Australian cheese

The Boatshed cheeses were excellent - the best was Black Pearl, wonderful, and I will be seeking more of it

    Boatshed Cheese review

I have been buying their cheeses for years, since they started selling at Mornington Peninsula farmer's markets. Always really good cheeses and the family thought it was quite special, too.

    Absolutely awesome cheese

I generally prefer robust and sharp flavours and non-cow's milk cheeses. I also prefer aged cheeses - I generally ignore expiry dates. All 4 of these are absolutely fabulous, and as I ate each one I decided that was my favourite! Now I can't decide. Just so yummy. I loved the ooze of the Black Pearl in particular. Soooooo yummy. I will be buying it again :)

    Can't go back now

We did have to scoot through the cheeses rather quickly as they were definitely ripe and ready to be eaten, that said, these delicious cheeses have spoilt me for lesser supermarket offerings especially for blue. Being a Melbournite eating squishy cheese on a regular basis does not improve the ISO spare tyre so Im trying to only eat wonderful cheese less often. Seems like a good compromise
