AUGUST GLOBETROTTER PACK
* SHIPPING COMMENCES 6TH OF AUGUST 2021 *
Our Globetrotter pack offers four amazing boutique cheeses selected by our cheesemongers from around the world for you to enjoy. A delightful offering that includes tasting notes with food and drink pairings.
Cheese that has travelled from afar to reach you, and for once not the other way around! This year treat your tastebuds to a journey overseas through the flavours in these international cheeses!
SOFT - Jacquin Buche De Lucay, Fromagerie Jacquin | France
There are many things to love about this cheese. This cheese arrives in its own personal “cave” to ensure that the penicillium candidum mould on the outside flourishes, giving it the appearance of a huge marshmallow. Being a surface-ripened cheese, witnessing the breaking down of the pate from gooey on the outside to lactic and crumbly in the middle is a thing of beauty. As the cheese matures, the white mould develops brown spots and the chalky interior becomes less. Eat it early and its perfect with a fresh salad. Eat it late and it wonderful on crusty bread.
HARD - Onetik Chebris, Onetik | France +
This is more semi-hard than hard. No jokes please. Think Gruyere rather than Cheddar - unctuous and creamy, with the rich texture of a plump green olive (but without the briny taste!). The flavours are gentle – sweet flavour with savoury hints of hazelnut, all intensified with six months of ageing. And did we mention how beautiful it looks?
STINKY - Blackall Gold, Woombye Cheese Co. | Australia
This cheese is an absolute winner! The flavour of this washed rind is not as strong as its French counterparts but its flavour develops to a great stench as it is given more time. Much of the white mould has made way for the bacteria growth that develops due to its daily brine bath. This is gold.
BLUE - Shropshire Blue, Cropwell Bishop | England
It is clear why this was the Supreme champion beating 910 other cheeses at the 2016 British Cheese Awards. The creamy texture has a sharp and strong flavour with a slightly spicy aroma. The bright orange hue comes from the addition of annatto, a natural food colouring. Although annatto does not change the flavour, the colour has made this cheese distinctive and world famous.
