JANUARY GLOBETROTTER PACK
"Delicious cheeses from around the world"
*$40 OFF Club offer only available on new subscriptions
Back in the years before COVID-19 we would normally shout "Happy New Year!" and be super excited and optimistic about the start of a shiny new year. This time, however, as much as we are very glad to see the end of 2020, I think we are all gently tip-toeing into 2021! One thing you can be excited about though is a box of delightful artisan cheese! And boy, do we have a beauty for you! Behold, the January 2021 Globetrotter cheese pack...
Why you should order this month’s Globetrotter Pack
Cheese that has travelled from afar to reach you, and for once not the other way around! This year treat your tastebuds to a journey overseas through the flavours in these international cheeses!
January 2021 Globetrotter cheese*:
The pack includes a hard, soft, stinky, and blue cheese selected by our cheesemongers from around the world for you to enjoy.
HARD - Collina Veneta, San Rocco | Italy
This one is very special, and ‘molto bene’ if you would ask our Italian friends. It is referred to as a semi-hard cheese, developing a beautiful crumbly texture when cut into. However, when it lands on your tongue it is smooth in texture. Magic, we know!
It doesn’t stop there either. Something during the making of this cheese makes it develop another magical characteristic, beautiful white flecks of calcium lactate crystals. They provide a nice little crunch to the bite. We warn you now, once you’ve tried this one you will go mama mia (and go for a second bite)!
SOFT - Goat Camembert, Milawa Cheese Co. | Australia
The great thing about this cheese is how it changes so much as it matures. Young, it is fresh, firm and citrusy. As it ages, the rind and inside breaks down to give a flowing and luscious cheese with a strong goaty flavour. The sign of it reaching maturity is brownish flecks on the rind. This cheese will go well eaten past its Best Before date. If eating when fully ripe, allow the cheese to come to room temperature to allow the pungency of its rind to disappear.
STINKY - Fleuri, L'Artisan | Australia
Great cheese starts with great milk. In this case, Matthieu gets his organic milk from cows grazing near Victoria’s Great Ocean Road. The creaminess of the milk certainly makes itself known as you slice into this beautifully formed wheel. The soft, white mould of this double cream brie hides a softness inside that only gets better with time. Give this cheese a chance to mature closer to its best before date.
BLUE - Organic Hand Ladled Stilton, Cropwell Bishop Creamery | England Each season of the year changes the flavours of the milk quite substantially resulting in the same cheese evolving through the months as the warm summers give way to the dreary winters. This stilton has been made on the prime summer milks giving a sense of pasty white skin baking in a hot English sun. The time to be alive in the UK is summer and this cheese certainly exudes that. The creamy and salty taste has some great tang from the blue veins. The edible rind adds to the different flavours that has a big spicy aroma.
Tasting Notes and Pairing Suggestions
Each pack includes one of each cheese, accompanying tasting notes and suggested wine and food pairings. If a promoted cheese is unavailable for some reason, we will replace it with another great cheese.
* Cheeses may change without notice if they become unavailable. In this case, we will substitute with another great cheese.
Blessed are the cheesemakers.
